Welcome, and thank you for visiting Higher Ground International Church online. We hope that our website helps you to become familiar with our assembly. Please feel free to read more about our church on this site, or come in for a visit. We are currently holding our 9:00 a.m. Sunday worship service at Cowan Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1717 4th Ave. N., Nashville, Tennessee. Tuesday Bible Study is at 7:00 p.m. and is live streamed on Facebook. We would love to have you join us. Once you experience worship at Higher Ground you will never be the same.
Our Founder
Rev. Dr. Joseph Rice is a gifted author, preacher, teacher and singer. He traveled the world as the lead singer of the world renowned Fairfield Four. He has earned a Dove Award, two Stellar Awards, a Country Music Award and two Grammy Awards.
Dr. Rice holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Christian Education, a Bachelor and Masters of Theology Degree from Emmanuel Bible College and a Doctorate of Divinity from United Theological College.
Dr. Rice is married to the former Cheryl Babb who is a Tennessee State University graduate, an ordained minister and is certified in grief counseling. She serves as his Assistant Pastor. They have three sons: Dwayne, Deren and Jordan, two Grandsons, Gabriel and Roman and two Grand-Puppies: Rufus and Huggy.

Our Purpose/Mission
We gather together in unity and Christian love, uplifting the blessed name of Jesus Christ and serving God now and forever more. Our mission is to be obedient to the word of God and operate in the will of God by preaching, teaching, praying and praising his holy name.

Family Oriented
Our Higher Ground assembly is family oriented. Based on the word of God, we preach and teach love and family values. We go beyond the walls with our nursing home visitations, food pantry, outreach and family ministries include: healthy eating, exercise, praise dance, youth tutoring, grief counseling, women's ministry, family and marriage counseling. Come visit and bring the family. We hope to see you soon!
